Transition Impact Awards:
- Most Transformative Provider
- Service Category: Job-Seeking Training
At AVI Human Services, we’re proud to spotlight providers who are not only committed to supporting students with disabilities but who go above and beyond to tailor services to each young person’s needs, interests, and goals. One such partner is Kiamichi Technology Centers (KTC)—recognized as a standout in the category of Most Transformative Provider for Job-Seeking Training.
Their approach, rooted in relationships, real-world relevance, and individualized support, is making a lasting impact across their region.
Meeting Students Where They Are
At Kiamichi Technology Centers, the foundation of their success is a simple but powerful principle: meet students where they are.
“Our program is effective because we focus on building strong relationships and meeting students where they are. By combining hands-on career exploration, workplace readiness activities, and individualized support, we help students connect learning to real-world goals.”
This people-first approach not only helps students feel seen and supported, it also makes the work more relevant. By aligning services with students’ actual experiences and aspirations, KTC helps bridge the gap between transition planning and tangible outcomes.
Collaboration is also central to their model. KTC works closely with schools, families, and community partners to ensure students are surrounded by a strong network of support.
“Collaboration with schools, families, and community partners, along with a growth mindset, ensures that each student feels supported and empowered to succeed.”
Turning Potential into Opportunity
While KTC sees many student success stories, one stands out as a powerful example of what happens when care, consistency, and opportunity come together.
“We are fortunate to see many student success stories through our program. One that stands out is a young man I first met at his school. He quickly connected with the program and expressed interest in attending our summer BEST STEP initiative. Despite several setbacks, we were able to support him in participating. He successfully completed the training week and secured meaningful summer employment. Through his dedication and consistency, that opportunity led to a permanent position that continued beyond the program. Today, he is enrolled in one of our programs while also attending high school.”
Stories like this one illustrate why individualized, intentional support matters. The KTC team didn’t just offer training, they offered a path forward.
“Stories like his highlight the lasting impact of our work and the real opportunities we help create for students.”
